Surrendering An Iguana

Picture
**NOTE**
We currently have NO openings to take in more iguanas. As soon as another adoption takes place, this status will change. Thank you for your patience. Please check back often.

* The surrender of your longtime green friend or even the surrender of an iguana you rescued yourself and can not care for is always a difficult process to endure.
* Our goal at Raptor Rescue is to make surrendering your iguana as painless and rewarding as possible.
* We want to know all about your iguana and his or her likes, dislikes, habits, diet, favorite foods, medical history, etc. so we can better provide to your iguana's specific needs while he or she is here and eventually share this info with his or her new owner sometime in the future.
*If you are interested in surrendering your iguana, you are more than welcome to come and take a look at how we conduct our daily routine here with the iguanas and decide for yourself if this is the route you want to take. Generally, we hold onto all new surrenders for 30-60 days to watch for illness and observe the iguana's behaviors. During this time, we will update you often via phone or email and can send digital pictures of your iguana and info about how he/she is adjusting here. Once the iguana is deemed medically fit, we begin to screen individuals interested in adopting an iguana for potential ownership.
***NOTE: We are prepared to refuse adoption to anyone we do not see fit in order to ensure your iguana will end up with a competent individual. We have done this before and will do it again if we sense it is not a good fit. Please see our adoption procedures for a description of the screening process.
