People in India have various activities to pass time. A favorite activity of the masses in India is paper kite flying. Although it appears to be an innocent activity, it has a deadly consequence. The threads used for flying kites are coated with powdered glass to make it easier to cut an opponent’s kite.
If an unfortunate bird collides mid-flight with this thread, it ends up with severed muscles, tendons, skin and sometimes even bones.
We at Wildlife Rescue have been successfully repairing severed wings of raptors by repairing the propotagium, and the birds treated at our center make it back to the sky with near-perfect flight!
