Our Story

Two brothers, one injured kite, and a mission that changed everything.

Our Journey

From a home in Old Delhi to the world's largest raptor rescue.

Early 1990s

The Beginning

Brothers Nadeem and Saud find an injured Black Kite. Told by hospitals that they "do not treat carnivorous birds," they begin learning to heal raptors themselves.

2003

Wildlife Rescue Established

The brothers formally establish Wildlife Rescue, dedicating their lives to raptor conservation in Delhi.

2010

Official Registration

Wildlife Rescue is registered as a charitable trust. Case #317 marks the start of formal record-keeping. 362 birds rescued in the first year.

2011

Explosive Growth

Intake surges 181% to 1,017 birds as the partner network activates. Wildlife Rescue transforms from a home operation to a real rescue center.

2014

National Recognition

Sparrow Award from Wipro Nature Forever Society. FIAPO Special Award. Included in Limca Book of Records. 1,926 birds rescued.

2020

COVID Resilience

Despite India's strict lockdown, Wildlife Rescue never closes. Annual intake drops only 1%. "Even during a global pandemic, we never closed our doors."

2022

All That Breathes

The Oscar-nominated documentary brings global attention. Intake jumps 24% to 3,500 birds. Wins Sundance Grand Jury Prize and Cannes Golden Eye.

2023

Oscar Nomination

All That Breathes nominated for Best Documentary Feature at the 95th Academy Awards, BAFTA, and DGA Awards.

2025

Record Year

4,184 birds rescued — the highest annual total ever. May 2024 set the single-month record with 720 birds. The rescue network grows to 10+ partner organizations.
